Core Responsibilities –
• Act as one of the sites Senior Authorised Persons, carrying out Electrical isolations on Low Voltage and High Voltage equipment and producing, and checking electrical Permits and switching schedules.
• Supporting the effective reliability, availability, operation and maintenance of the active operational infrastructure and associated electrical systems across the TBAG assets.
• Providing expert specialist and technical engineering advice to the Engineering Manager and deputising both internally and externally.
• Guidance on the implementation of TBAG Investment and asset management strategy in the short, medium, and long term.
• Proactive leadership to facilitate delivery of specific programmes including delivery of TBAG capital programme, TBAG maintenance programme, TBAG training/development programme and the execution of the TBAG gate trial and testing programme.
• Assisting the development of all TBAG Engineering strategies and policies.
• Undertaking a Thames Barrier Incident Role.
• Explore new areas of technology.

London Weighting - £4267
Thames Barrier High Voltage Engineer MFF - £15,000
Standby Payments role for a 1in2 week standby for incident role – approximately 26 weeks per annum 26 x £167.62 = £4358
CNI Allowance (When trained and competent in incident role) - £3000
Joining our friendly and essential London MEICA team you will report directly to the Engineering Manager and work alongside an experienced team to carry out operations and deliver large capital projects, planned / reactive maintenance on electrical systems ensuring the reliability of equipment and machinery and equipment across Thames Tidal Defences assets.
Qualification/Experience Requirements –
• Experienced with Low Voltage electrical systems.
• Experienced with High Voltage electrical systems.
• Can read electrical drawings and diagrams.
• Experienced with electrical fault finding
• Good knowledge of electrical regulations and standards
• Knowledge of managing maintenance contracts and projects.
• Excellent knowledge of Electrical and Safety Standards and Regulations.
• Chartered status with the IET
Responding to incidents is a central part of what we do. You will be required to have an incident role and make yourself available to respond to incidents or provide business continuity support during an incident. This may attract an additional payment and full training and alternative working arrangements will be available to support you with your incident role.

The role will be based in Charlton London and interviews will be held in October/November 2025
