Develops, reviews, audits and assures models using technical knowledge and experience to draw conclusions and support decisions. This includes internal technical modelling / forecasting projects as well as collaboratively working within larger project delivery team with other internal teams and external consultants.

Selects the most appropriate tools and techniques for hydrological assessments and advising the organisation on hydraulic modelling and forecasting approaches.

Acts as a ‘point of contact’ for providing professional/technical expertise to the Environment Agency and partner organisations.

Provides technical leadership, coaching, mentoring and inspiration to others within the department carrying out similar activities and monitoring the delivery and productivity of team’s workload

Evidence and Risk are experts in environmental risks. We provide analysis and advice to reduce the impact of hazards and improve resilience

Our Inland teams provide leadership, technical expertise and specialist advice on building, running and analysing detailed mathematical models. The outputs are used to describe flood risk, providing evidence for determining potential impacts on communities and informing flood risk management and incident management decisions.

We are experts in river flooding and hydrology.
You will have expert knowledge and / or considerable experience in river modelling and/or flood forecasting, either in a real-time or ‘non-real time’ environment

Technically proficient in complex modelling and GIS software packages, and highly computer literate

You will be able to work under pressure and be skilled at making decisions and acting on them

Ability understand, influence and negotiate with internal and external stakeholders. You need to understand your audience and communicate at the right level.

Data management and standards will be part of everything you do and you will have attuned and expert analytical skills while reflecting best practice ways of working.

Experience in prioritising high profile programmes / projects and the ability to manage your own workload and support others balance theirs.

Harnessing people to deliver results on time, to required standards and in line with organisational processes and procedures.
