You will work with the PSO engagement lead to devise and support the delivery of engagement strategies for the capital programme. The role will support capacity building in engagement activities, and ensure our project teams and senior users plan engage effectively internally as well as with partners and communities. You will work closely with internal teams and external partners, funders and other organisations to ensure there is a clear understanding of the EA’s ambitions for the capital programme. You will support the practical delivery of our capital programme, working at pace in a sometimes challenging environment. You will be part of the Luton, Herts and Essex PSO team where you will be expected to show leadership and help develop skills and capabilities in the team.
Partnership and Strategic Overview teams help protect against flooding and minimise the risks caused by floods by working closely with our public and private sector partners to identify flood risk solutions. We specify, plan and help fund the creation of new assets that protect communities from future flooding. We also influence the location of new property developments and help develop flood management strategies through the use of spatial planning.
You will need to understand and be able to overcome the technical challenges in identifying and delivering flood risk management solutions. You will understand the role of the client in project management and be confident in taking decisions as part of a team to deliver outcomes.

You will be able to present solutions to complex problems in a simple and engaging way to gain the confidence and trust of our external partners. You also need be highly organised and someone who can work with others to deliver real improvements on the ground.

Experience of modelling, civil/environmental engineering or project management would be advantageous.

Your qualifying experience should be gained through a combination of formal qualifications and experience or substantial experience. You will need to be able to travel to meetings, sometimes in remote locations. Occasional weekend and evening work may be required.
