We are looking for a forward thinking, outcome focused person to join our technical officer group which helps manage the non-tidal River Thames Navigation. You will focus across approximately 9 lock and weir complexes and associated reaches, and support a team comprising lock and weir keepers, waterways officers and a team leader. You will also work closely with other departments to deliver desired outcomes.
You will need to be technically competent and have an understanding of the competing needs of all users, landowners and stakeholders on the river.
You will be required to work some weekends with time off during the following week and you will also have to undertake the Waterways high level duty officer role.
You will support your team leader and deputise for them at internal and external meetings.
We are a professional and passionate department with broad operational responsibilities across the River Thames. We manage the river for all users, from the boating community through to major abstractors. We work closely with colleagues in other departments, particularly Operations Management, as well as our diverse community of stakeholders. You will be part of the Leadership Team in a department of 96 staff and will work closely with your peers and the Senior Management Team.

Current driving license
RYA level 2 powerboat certificate
PACE level 2 warranted
