Providing expert advice and leadership on water resources and water quality issues and putting plans in place for a high quality water environment in the EMD Area. Additionally the post will delivery oversight on business planning & review within Land & Water. The post holder will need to provide support and work closely with the three Team Leaders.
Focus on delivery and accountability across our sector facing work streams for planned continuous improvement.
Strategic focus on business planning and review. Have an overview of high risk or poor performing areas and you will be responsible for driving forward improvements both directly and by supporting others
Work closely with the Teams to act as a trouble shooter and provide a link between officers and national and local contacts.
Lead on forward looking for Water Resources Dry weather planning, Water Resources planning and implementation
Drive forward our ways of working and ensure all our regulatory tools are used to the full.

The three Land and Water teams deliver our Water, Land and Biodiversity brief, in an area containing a mixture of major conurbations and large areas given over to agriculture. The diverse nature of our Area throws up its own challenges and opportunity to enhance the environment. The post holder will be based at one of our office locations: Owston Ferry, Ripley, Nottingham, Rothley. Travel between these locations will be necessary.
Through experience to date you will ideally be able to demonstrate:
• You have a good knowledge of the Water Resources and Water Quality sectors and experience and skills in modern regulation and relevant legislation
• You will be expected to be self-motivated and plan and monitor your workload to fit around Area priorities
• Carry out complex tasks following existing procedures but with an element of problem solving and initiative to achieve outcomes
• Have the ability to coach and mentor staff within the Teams and be able to tailor plans for individuals where required
• You will be expected to be self-motivated and plan and monitor your workload to fit around the Area’s priorities
• You must have excellent inter-person and communication skills with a passion for helping others
• Have a track record of technical leadership delivering improvements and efficiencies in how we work.
