Want to make sure waste crime doesn't pay? More waste crime is reported in the West Midlands than anywhere else in the country, fortunately, our West Midlands Illegal Waste Site team has a strong and successful record of tackling this type of crime. As leader of this team you will provide leadership, direction and prioritise delivery of operational and enforcement activities in line with defined plans. You will need to identify risks to the delivery of priorities, making appropriate actions to resolve issues.
The role will require you to recruit, motivate and develop staff to ensure effective delivery of operational and enforcement activities. You will be essential to ensuring appropriate skill levels are developed and maintained and team performance is optimised in line with team goals.
You will develop and maintain relationships, with internal and external stakeholders and will need to be a positive team player as a member of the Area Regulated Industry leadership team. It is important you can influence and challenge with the objective of building resilience and promoting collaborative working.
It will be expected that you have an incident management role when in this role.
The West Midlands Area Illegal Waste site team is an Area team focused on tackling illegal sites, closing them or ensuring they apply for the necessary permits. The team respond quickly to reports of illegal activity, conduct investigations and close sites whilst ensuring they are cleared of waste.
We are looking for applicants who have strong leadership skills and believe that providing great leadership is fundamental to our ability to protect and improve the environment for people and wildlife. Your leadership experience may have been achieved through non-team leader roles such as project management.
