This is a fantastic opportunity to protect communities and the environment across West Midlands Area by ensuring operational work delivery in our Area Regulated Industry department. Key responsibilities include:
1. Accountability for the operational delivery of the Area Regulated Industry business objectives as agreed with Area Regulated Industry Lead and national colleagues.
2. Lead the Regulated Industry teams and drive a supportive, ‘can-do’, continuous improvement culture.
3. Make the Area Regulated Industry department a great place to work.
4. Drive effective, efficient ways of working to ensure productive people performance outcomes for Regulated Industry.
5. Role model positive behaviours.
6. Support the Area Regulated Industry Lead.
7. Act as the senior local expert across the Waste, Waste crime, Environment and Installations regulatory business.
8. Champion business initiatives across the West Midlands Area as required.
9. Champion reputation of Area and Environment Agency risks.
10. Lead and develop teams to ensure a motivated and high performing work force which delivers organisational aims.

This is a key Area Leadership Team role, core to running the department and Business Board, You will need to be strong leader and team player, adept in bringing people together and focusing on a 'one team' approach.
You will report to the Regulated Industry Area Lead Environment Manager and work alongside the Regulated Industry Planning and Performance Manager. You will be an active member of the Area Leadership Team as well as having 10 direct reports including 2 Crime, 5 Waste and 3 Installations Team Leaders.
• This role requires experience in leading teams, recruitment, performance management and development.
• Experience gained in a relevant environment, typically operational or regulatory, to enable leadership of a function, department or specialism.
• Advanced negotiation and influencing skills are required to develop and motivate people, and change behaviours in a range of complex business environments.
• Requires expert understanding of a range of organisational practices and their effective application and is required to apply practical judgement of the wider business impact of decisions.
• A relevant degree or equivalent, usually gained through extensive experience and training.
• Management of budgets and/or revenue.

Team Leaders are based at various locations around the West Midlands, so some travel should be expected as this is the case.
