We are seeking an experienced Project Manager to lead the project management of developments of our portfolio of carbon emissions and energy efficiency scheme regulation and administration.

Your work will be leading the development and delivery of the programme and managing specific projects within the portfolio. You will be working closely with project managers and leads in government departments, the Environment Agency operations and legal experts and the team of specialist senior advisors and advisors.

You will:

•enable delivery of the key products and activities, manage resources to suit priorities, maintain momentum, meet stakeholders' expectations, and deliver outcomes in line with the project plans;
•be responsible for project planning, progress tracking and reporting, benefits realisation and risk and issue management and provide input to financial planning and reporting;
•support the management team to manage the workload, resources and priorities in a complex and fast changing environment;
•line manage and supervise one or more G5 staff including a G5 Project Manager.

Together with the Project Manager you will provide the Project Delivery technical expertise, supporting the development of robust project management in the team, role modelling Project Delivery behaviours and competencies.

Working in our team you’ll be contributing to the essential work to enable UK Net Zero.

You’ll have an inclusive incident management objective in your development plan, so we’ll support you to find an incident role to suit your needs and circumstances. Appropriate training will be given.

This post is a 2year temporary assignment. Further programme development and funding may result in this becoming permanent in the future.
We are a dispersed team in the Environment and Business Directorate.

The Industrial Decarbonisation and Market Mechanisms Team develops and implements new and existing schemes that encourage reduction in greenhouse gas emissions and improvements in energy efficiency from UK business and industry. These include UK Emissions Trading Scheme, Energy Savings Opportunities Scheme, Climate Change Agreements and Fluorinated Gases and Ozone Depleting Substances Regulations. These schemes regulate over 25% of UK territorial carbon emissions.
We are looking for a talented, dynamic team member with fantastic organisational and communication skills, and an ability to lead projects.

Essential experience required is:

•A minimum of 2 years' experience leading projects as a professional project manager.
•A proven track record of delivering outcomes in challenging circumstances.
•The ability to inspire confidence, lead people and communicate well with a diverse group of partners and stakeholders.
•A confident project manager who can work effectively, independently and as part of a team.

Desirable:

•Practitioner level programme / project management qualifications

Office location is flexible. You’ll require the use of virtual tools along with approximately monthly travel to other locations (mostly London, occasionally Birmingham and other regional centres).
