Flood and Coastal Risk Management (FCRM) plays a huge part in the work that the Environment Agency does; helping to protect against flooding and minimising the risks caused by any floods that do occur. The work we do directly and in partnership with others reduces flood risk to communities in our West Midlands Area.

In this role you will be:

- Completing flood risk information requests (in accordance with Environmental Information Regulations 2004 (EIR)) with the support of the other officers in the team.
- Working towards the completion of planning consultations for flood risk activities.
- Involvement in completing flood risk permits for flood risk activities within the West Midlands area.

The role will be based at one of our West Midlands offices in Birmingham, Lichfield, Shrewsbury, or Tewkesbury. We promote a flexible working environment.

You will also enhance the Areas incident response capability by having an Incident Management role.
The Partnership and Strategic Overview (PSO) Team works with various partners including all Flood Risk Management Authorities and communities by providing advice for development proposals. We process permits for works and work closely with planners to influence the location and design of new developments.

We compile and use the best available evidence through mapping/modelling and data work to inform our long-term plans and investment programmes for future flood schemes.
Full training would be offered by a team of experienced officers. We are looking for an individual who can demonstrate:

• Ability to develop and maintain good relationships with internal and external customers.
• Deliver work by planning, gathering, and maintaining data/information.
• Working under own initiative and as part of a team to make decisions and achieve planned outcomes.
• Good organisational skills. It would be advantageous to have an ability to use MS Office and other relevant applications e.g. Arc GIS.
You’ll be part of a diverse and inclusive organisation which takes pride in welcoming applicants from all backgrounds. All new starters in the Environment Agency are welcomed into our teams and given all the training and support needed to succeed. The Environment Agency offers an extensive range of employee benefits, for further information on this, please download the candidate pack.
