This will be a fantastic opportunity to use your leadership skills to bring out the best in our employees. You will be flexible in your approach and open to regular change. Most importantly will be your ability to connect with people, supporting them with the leadership they need to be their best.
You will play a key role developing and motivating team members to deliver great outcomes; including delivery of our capital and maintenance programmes and leading our operational incident response, as well as ensuring their health, safety and wellbeing is looked after.
Key responsibilities will include:
• Manage the effectiveness and wellbeing of a team of motivated people who deliver a wide range of challenging asset management activities at a river catchment level.
• Providing strategic outlook to support delivery and working effectively with others to ensure joined up asset management for the area.
• Supporting delivery of our capital and revenue programmes, as well as management of our reservoirs.
• Exceptional health, safety, and wellbeing focus, often working within Construction, Design and Management (CDM) regulations.
• Building effective relationships and working closely with our Field Teams and internal / external stakeholders.
You will lead a great team (approx. 10-12 team members), comprising of highly professional, multi-skilled people, including asset managers, engineers, environmental and construction specialists, responsible for delivering a broad asset and incident management remit.
You will also be part of the Area Operations leadership community and will work with internal colleagues across the area.

• Capable of prioritising, handling complex and busy workloads.
• Excellent organisational skills: able to resource, prioritise and deliver a programme of works within recognised timeframes.
• Experience of leading a team, ensuring safety, health and wellbeing are at the forefront of all your decision-making processes.
• A good level of emotional intelligence; able to recognise the strengths, vulnerabilities, motivations of others and develop key skills.
• Experienced working with members of the public, consultants, professional partners, stakeholders.

Desirable:

• Qualified to degree level/equivalent in a relevant environmental/engineering or related discipline.
• Asset management experience.
• A good understanding of the complex issues relating to building and maintaining assets and relating to the environment.
• Experience working as a Senior User on projects.
• Knowledge of incident management and a readiness to work out of hours.
Responding to incidents is a central part of what we do. You will be required to have an incident role and make yourself available to respond to incidents or provide business continuity support during an incident. This may attract an additional payment and full training and alternative working arrangements will be available to support you with your incident role. This will be a full-time hybrid role and there will be an expectation to travel within the area to support the delivery of work.

The role will be based in Medway House, Tonbridge and interviews will be held in May 2024.
