Lake Windermere is one of the jewels in the crown of the Lake District National Park World Heritage Site. The lake, its rivers and landscape are critical to supporting wildlife and the local economy and are under pressure from nutrient enrichment and climate change. Significant investment has already taken place to improve the water environment but there is more to do to improve the health of the lake over the long term.

The Love Windermere partnership is looking for a person with a proven record of delivering lasting outcomes through partnership working, as a result of their leadership, personal style and organisation.

The role is to:
o Facilitate partnership working so that more can be achieved for people and nature.
o Lead and develop the partnership and a programme of activities on a day to day basis.
o Lead internal coordination of work within the Windermere catchment.
Be secretariat for the Love Windermere Programme Board.
o Co-ordinate activities across multiple working groups.
o Oversee the creation of a long term management plan to reduce nutrient inputs for the catchment.
o To be a spokesperson for the partnership – engaging and communicating with the public, stakeholders and media.
o Identify and develop wider opportunities with other initiatives, organisations and government.
o Connect the Love Windermere partnership with the wider aims of the Lake District National Park Partnership Plan and other relevant initiatives etc.
o You will take an active role in responding to incidents, responding to flooding and a range of other emergencies. You will be an essential part of the Environment Agency's formal 24/7 Incident response
The role is managed by the Environment Agency’s Environment, Planning and Engagement Manager for Cumbria and Lancashire and is directed by the Love Windermere Programme Board; consisting of key organisations operating around Lake Windermere.

A wider team will consist of representatives from across the Environment Agency and partner organisations.

The successful candidate will form an essential part of the Environment Agency's wider Area Leadership Group, providing forward thinking and strategic direction to Cumbria and Lancashire.
Essential:
- Extensive experience of managing a programme across a range of portfolios/projects to deliver menaingful outcomes.
- Extensive experience of leading partnership delivery across public, private and charitable organisations.
- Can lead and influnce people through challenging situations.
- Comfortable with communicating and engaging with stakeholders and the public in a variety of settings.
- Can quickly form constructive relationships and respond to stakeholder needs.

Desirable:
- Programme management and partnership working withing an environmental or sustainable development setting.
- An understanding of natural capital accounting and green finance mechanisms.

This role is for 2 years but could be extended depending up the availability of funding.
