We are permanently recruiting an Environment Planning and Engagement Manager (EPE Manager) with a focus on environment programme and planning within the Yorkshire Area Leadership team. This is an exciting leadership opportunity for someone who wants to help make Yorkshire even better by working in partnership with our customers and stakeholders to improve the environment for wildlife and people.

We are looking for a highly visible operational leader, able to organise, inspire and motivate people to achieve great outcomes across the area.

As Environment Planning & Engagement Manager you will help ensure that the great work we are delivering across all our area teams is delivering the most we can for people and for the environment. This will include ensuring we maximise the opportunity to work in partnership with a wide range of external stakeholders. You will naturally establish great relationships and always be looking for innovation and continuous improvement.

You will be required to have an incident role and make yourself available to respond to incidents or provide business continuity during an incident.

You will work closely with the EPE Business Manager and will also form an essential part of our Area Leadership Team, providing forward thinking and strategic direction to Yorkshire Area. Your leadership will also enhance the Areas incident response capability by holding a senior incident management role.
You will lead the following teams: Environment Programme; Integrated Environment Planning; and Sustainable Places. Ensuring effective delivery of multiple benefits from cross-cutting programmes and projects and supporting relationships with Local Authorities, Yorkshire Water, Environmental Non-Governmental Organisations, and Defra family partners, to promote sustainable development and secure environmental assets, outcomes, and funding.
The role will require you to be able to:
• Have an understanding of sustainable growth and the role the Environment Agency plays in this.
• Have an ability to deliver results through others
• Have advanced negotiation and influencing skills to develop and motivate people and change behaviours in a complex business environment.
• You will be able to build trusting relationships with our partners, within and outside the Environment Agency, that help us deliver more and better outcomes across Yorkshire.
• Have very good organisational skills.
• Communicate effectively with a diverse range of people.
• As a leader you’ll be committed to developing yourself and those around you, providing a positive role model who can create an open, inclusive, and trusting culture.
This role will be based in Yorkshire. Travel will be required to other offices, depots and locations which may not be easily accessible via public transport, and so you will need a full UK driving licence.
