Do you want to help London and the Thames Estuary adapt to climate change? In the Thames Estuary 2100 team, we’re working with communities, businesses and other organisations to deliver a trailblazing climate adaptation strategy. Together we’re shaping future riversides to adapt to rising sea levels, building resilient communities, and creating better places for people and wildlife.

In this role, you will lead on engagement for one of the key projects in the Thames Estuary 2100 portfolio, ensuring collaboration is at the heart of everything we do. You will work closely with a project team, using your expertise to influence our approach to engagement, advise on the most appropriate tools and techniques, and ensure we take a collaborative approach to working with internal teams, partners, communities and other stakeholders.

Your main workload will revolve around the delivery of our Land Strategy for delivering flood defence upgrades, locations for a future Thames Barrier, and land for habitat creation. You will be expected to compliment this workload by supporting the team with other projects and business plans. We also encourage team members to get involved with Environment Agency incident response, learning and development, and building and maintaining your own and team networks.

The Thames Estuary is a diverse area and we welcome candidates from a wide range of backgrounds who can bring diverse perspectives and help us to reflect the communities we serve. This is a fast-paced Portfolio, so we need someone who can be flexible, and can balance a varied and exciting workload working on some of the largest programmes of work in the Environment Agency.
The engagement team plan, deliver and coordinate engagement within the Thames Estuary 2100 department, which is part of the London Area. We are made up of 1 Officer, 4 Advisors, and 1 Senior Advisor / Team Leader.

The Thames Estuary 2100 Plan is at the forefront of adaptive planning for climate change and to deliver this we work across 3 operational areas and the Thames Estuary Asset Management programme.
We are looking for someone who:
- Has experience of planning, advising and delivering engagement on projects or programmes in line with the Environment Agency’s Working With Others approach

- Takes a proactive approach to managing a varied workload and can work with team members to take decisions and prioritise

- Is a good communicator, works well both independently and in a team, and can build and sustain relationships

- Can influence others to consider alternative approaches or different perspectives, and is confident to ask questions and share their thoughts and ideas

- Understands the importance of collaborative working and can advocate for this approach

- Has experience in organising and facilitating events or workshops

- Is curious and has enthusiasm to learn about Thames Estuary 2100, learn new skills, try new ideas and take risks on innovative approaches.
Interviews are planned between Monday 29 April and Thursday 2 May.

The role will be based at 2 Marsham Street, London and will therefore attract London weighting. There may be occasional travel to other areas of the Thames Estuary or local area offices, and there will be the opportunity to work from home for part of the week, if this is preferable.
We're interested in candidates from a wide range of backgrounds that have relevant experience or skills. We support flexible working patterns and will consider job share applications.

If you need any adjustments for the application or interview process please let us know. For more information or a discussion about the role, please contact Phil Taylor on 07901117563 or Mike Robinson on 07795366829.
