At the Environment Agency we are committed to creating a better place; protecting the nation against natural threats and hazards. We’re looking for an innovative and inspirational leader for Thames Environment Programme Team, within our Thames Environment Planning and Engagement (EPE) department.

The successful candidate will lead a team of Catchment Coordinators working to improve and restore the rivers and chalk streams across Thames.

Responsible for motivating and developing each team member’s performance, you will manage the team ensuring consistent and efficient delivery so that Thames priorities are at the core of the team’s work. You will help manage the team’s development and delivery of projects, ensuing an integrated catchment approach. You will help ensure that our programmes are delivered to time and budget, working with colleagues in FCRM to programme these against available funding. Working with other internal teams and partners will be a key requirement of the role. You'll raise the profile of the team, manage budgets and have an active role in inputting to Business Boards as appropriate. You will drive a strong health, safety and wellbeing culture.

Responding to incidents is a central part of what we do. You will be required to have an incident role and make yourself available to respond to incidents or provide business continuity during an incident. This may attract an additional payment and full training and alternative working arrangements will be available to support you with your incident role.

The role reports into the Environment, Planning and Engagement (EPE) Manager, sitting within EPE, and leads a team of catchment coordinators. As a team we work with a wide range of people and teams across the Environment Agency, along with many different organisations and partners to deliver projects that improve our environment. We are a friendly team with passion for the work we do which is often challenging, and fast paced, yet highly rewarding.

You will need to demonstrate ability in the following areas:
• Excellent leadership skills, with a track record of building and developing a high functioning team to deliver environmental outcomes.
• Skilled in developing & coaching staff, managing performance, building inclusive relationships, knowledge sharing, and with excellent communication and influencing skills.
• The ability to manage budgets and resources.
• A proven track record of promoting a diverse organisation and taking action to put people first and celebrate difference.
• A full driving licence is desirable
This permanent role will be based in our Thames Area.

Some travel will be required to other offices and locations.
