Operations Specialist Team Member - 12212

Predominantly office based, you will be responsible for planning and managing the delivery of our flood risk management and emergency response work, ensuring work is delivered on time, to the right standard and in accordance with Health and Safety guidelines. You will assist the Team leader with developing the programming of work and coordinating its delivery through our staff and contractors. You will create the necessary paperwork for each task and actively monitor its correct delivery. You may also be expected to take the lead on the planning and delivery of higher risk construction projects. You will provide effective leadership on health and safety matters and actively promote safe working practices. You will ensure that site work fully complies with our health, safety and environmental policies. You will lead an effective incident response capability and you will participate in a standby roster for incident response. You will provide support to the Team leader on scheduling of resources, procurement, monitoring of work to cost/quality. You will work flexibly and lead work groups on high risk/specialist operational sites and ensure all staff, equipment and materials are available on site. You will communicate with landowners and the public when required.

The Team is based within the Wessex Area at Bradney Depot. Teams carry out work to maintain our river and flood defence assets and respond to flood and pollution incidents. We work across the country when other areas need assistance during major incidents. The team is also part of an out of hour's incident response rota.

You need to be an excellent leader as this role will cover for the Team leader in their absence. You should have an understanding of flood risk management and priorities. You should understand the principles of health, safety and wellbeing to ensure the safety of yourself and others. Experience of managing contractors, and working with other partners is desirable. You should be experienced in delivering and leading a program of work by planning, tracking, gathering and maintaining data/information (project management skills are desirable). You need strong communication skills and experience of working with the public. You should have the ability to use your initiative and work as part of a team to make decisions and achieve planned outcomes, taking remedial action where necessary. You should be computer literate with a proven ability to use Microsoft office and other computer-based work scheduling applications. You need a full UK driving license.

The Specialist Team Member needs to work with the Team Leader and schedule the teams work, and produce accurate and appropriate paperwork and documentation (including site packs) to enable work to be carried out on site. Please tell us about your experience of producing documentation for site work, managing contractors (or similar) and also your knowledge of the in-house systems that we use?

As a Specialist Team Member your role is key to ensuring that the risks to the team are controlled safely and effectively. Please tell us about your approach to health, safety and the environment for on-site working and about your previous experience of leading a team to carry out maintenance and construction activities and how you have ensured that your people work safely and consider the environmental impacts of the work?
