The Flood Resilience Team Leader is a key role, reporting to our Area Flood and Coastal Risk Manager in Wessex. You will be part of the Wessex FCRM Management Team, providing direction and support to 60+ FCRM staff and ensuring efficient delivery for the business.
We are looking for an enthusiastic and inspirational person to lead our Flood Resilience Team. You will be passionate about developing yourself and others, and will be a positive role model who creates an open, inclusive and trusting culture where people give their best. You will work in a flexible environment leading a team of experienced staff who are key to ensuring ourselves, partners and communities are prepared for flooding.
You'll be a visible leader and an excellent communicator, with the ability to influence and work with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders and partners. You'll bring a passion to the role and in return be supported by great people in the area.
The Flood Resilience Team has 3 main areas of accountability: Flood Incident Management, Flood Warning and Flood and Coastal Risk Management (FCRM) Engagement. The Wessex Flood Resilience Team is based between 2 offices; Bridgwater and Blandford. We ensure that ourselves, our partners and our communities are prepared for flooding and are able to respond effectively before, during and after a flood.
We are seeking an experienced or aspiring leader looking to develop their career in an exciting part of our business. Required skills and experience include:
• An ability to motivate and inspire your teams, providing leadership and direction, prioritising team activities to deliver our resilience and flood incident management objectives.
• An ability to develop the team and support individuals in achieving their full potential.
• Leading and supporting team members through change.
• Strong communication skills and a proven track record in delivering through others.
• A desire to enhance the environment.
• An understanding of the principles of flood resilience.
• You’ll also have or be expected to take on an incident response role, depending upon your circumstances.
• A full UK driving license is required.
