As a project officer you will work closely with our Catchment Coordinators and the Environment Programme Team to plan, manage and track a diverse programme of projects that deliver multiple benefits for the environment. You will ensure project management procedures and processes are maintained throughout the project lifecycle. You will help to shape the Medium Term Plan and produce summary reports to ensure projects are delivered on time and within budget. You will support Project Managers within the team and across the business and work closely with the National Programme Office. You will also have the opportunity to manage projects and develop your skills in project management.
We are a small team of Project Managers and Catchment Coordinators based in the Environment, Planning and Engagement Department (EPE). The team has oversight of several funding programmes and we are leading on the implementation of the new Water Environment Grant. The team is also leading on a local initiative working closely with FCRM to integrate our environmental projects and deliver joint outcomes that reflect local priorities.
You will have the ability to manage multiple priorities under pressure, trouble-shoot and meet short and long term deadlines. You will need to work effectively as a team member and independently. You will have excellent written and verbal communication skills. You will need to be familiar with word processing, excel spreadsheets and have the ability to analyse and present information. You will have an awareness of project and financial management and knowledge of project funding procedures/guidelines is advantageous. You will have strong influencing skills to ensure we achieve the best outcomes for the Environment and the Programme. We are looking for someone who is adaptable and flexible and although initially your work focus would be to deliver and support our Environment Programme team, this may change over time and you may support delivery of projects in others teams or support and develop pipeline projects with our partners.
The post is a temporary assignment until the end of March 2020 and it will be based in Richard Fairclough Office, Warrington. The role will focus on managing the in-year programme and the Medium Term Plan for future years. The funding programmes we manage include the Water Environment Improvement Fund, Water Resources, Fisheries Improvement Fund and some Natural Flood Management projects. Experience of working with other functions, such as Fisheries, Biodiversity, Water Resources and FCRM would be an advantage. We are a friendly and supportive team with a good reputation for delivery and innovation.
