Do you have a passion for working with others to deliver environmental outcomes? Do you want to be at the centre of delivering the government’s 25 Year Environment Plan, making Wessex a better place to live and work? We're looking for an enthusiastic, driven and adaptable person to join the Environment Programme Team.
This is an exciting opportunity to influence the future environment of Wessex through delivery of innovative environmental improvement projects. We are looking for two people to develop and manage a range of large scale catchment wide projects including river restoration, fish passage and land management. The projects contribute to the achievement of corporate objectives for Water Framework Directive (WFD), FCRM and biodiversity targets. You will work closely with Catchment Co-ordinators, FCRM and IEP to ensure the projects you develop are evidence-led and meet Catchment Partnership priorities. One of the posts will also be delivering the Brue Priority Catchment Project which is currently one of nine ‘pilot’ catchments that will be used to test and develop innovative solutions to abstraction issues.
As a member of the Wessex Environment Programme Team in the Environment, Planning and Engagement Department you'll join a dynamic group which includes Project Officers, Project Managers, Catchment Co-Ordinators and a Natural Flood Management Advisor covering the Bristol Avon, Somerset, Dorset and Hampshire Avon catchments. We are a small but friendly, enthusiastic and supportive team with a good reputation for working across functions and organisations to make a positive difference to people and the environment.
We're looking for candidates who are preferably degree qualified in an environmental discipline or hold equivalent experience. You'll need to demonstrate ability in the following areas:
• Project management experience preferably in environmental projects
• Having the drive, resilience, and passion for partnership working and delivery.
• You'll need to have recent partnership working experience and be comfortable with initiating, influencing and developing projects from concept to delivery.
• Good knowledge of at least two of the following will be an advantage: WFD; Biodiversity or Fisheries; and FCRM.
• Strong organisational and interpersonal skills and a proven ability to communicate and influence at all levels
• Practical approach to problem solving
You will need a valid driving licence as regular travel to partner offices and project sites will be required. Good knowledge of the local area, Water Framework Directive, River Basin Management Planning or external funding would also be desirable.
The posts can be based in either our Blandford or Bridgwater office. The posts being advertised are permanent positions.
