We’re looking for an enthusiastic and motivated individual to lead our Fisheries Team, who are based in Newcastle. This is a temporary post until 31 March 2020, leading a team of 6 people.

The Fisheries team was recently split from our Biodiversity & Geomorphology Team as the number of team members has increased. A key part of this role will be to ensure that the two teams continue to provide the exceptional service they were able to as a single team. You will also join a group of existing experienced Team Leaders as part of the North East Area Leadership Group.

You will:
- Lead a team to deliver results on time, to required standards that support our environmental goals.
- Recruit, develop and motivate team members to ensure that an effective and appropriately skilled team is maintained.
- Plan, monitor and control resources to maximise the effective use of finance and people.
- Establish and maintain good relationships with internal and external partners to understand their activities and promote our environmental goals.
- Participate in or lead local projects and working groups to deliver the best environmental outcomes.
You will join an experienced and supportive team of officers who integrate fisheries, biodiversity and geomorphology expertise to deliver functional, corporate and statutory duties. You will be working in a diverse and beautiful part of the country with a mix of rural and urban areas, upland and lowland rivers, species and habitats.
We're looking for someone who has shown leadership through current and previous roles and are able to demonstrate a commitment to supporting and developing colleagues.
