This role will be pivotal in the way we manage the WLB business and have a key role in the annual business planning cycle.

You will play an integral role in the Agency wide Simplifying Planning, Performance and Allocations review and implementing the outcomes within WLB. You will have specific responsibility for the Planning workstreams, and will play a key role in the cross business working groups to ensure that the review delivers a robust planning framework which meets the needs of WLB, sets out our 5 year ambition, supports delivery the integrated delivery of WLB priorities and ensures we truly become an outcome focussed business.

You will also play a key role in the allocation of charges income and GiA across the WLB business. Working closely with Senior Advisors in the team to ensure that our allocations fund the delivery of our WLB priorities and outcomes and that we continue to drive for efficiencies throughout the business to ensure the best delivery of outcomes for our charge payers.

You will help ensure that cross cutting teams are appropriately funded and that funding mixes reflect the service delivered to the individual charge regimes and across Heads of Business.
We deliver the Head of Business role through working in an integrated way across the WLB business and working closely with the other Heads of Business (Regulated Industry/FCRM). Effective planning, performance management and allocation is critical to ensure we deliver as much as we can for people and the environment. We maintain a strategic overview of our business’ priorities, workforce, spend and approach, to ensure we achieve the most effective investment in environmental outcomes.
The successful candidate will be at the heart of business management across Water, Land and Biodiversity (WLB). If you are someone with a great understanding of our business and can respond well to fast moving challenges, this could be the role for you. Business planning experience is not essential.

This role will provide you with great opportunities to engage and regularly work with managers and Deputy Directors while supporting Pete Fox, Head of Business for Water, Land and Biodiversity.

You will be responsible for delivering solutions to business and funding challenges as they arise throughout the planning and allocation process, working closely with Operations and other Heads of Business to reach agreement.
