Provides leadership and direction to their team to assist in the assurance of our overall asset management and emergency response services. Is visible and available to provide guidance and support to their team.

They maintain a close overview on the health, safety and wellbeing of their team due to the high-risk nature of field work; the requirement to work in or near a watercourse/coast and to regularly operate plant and other specialist equipment.

Through the management of a team and use of our supply chain they ensure the delivery of our maintenance programmes to support our asset management strategy and meet the principles of the whole life-cycle asset management.

They ensure their team have the capabilities, training and experience necessary to respond professionally during flooding and environmental incidents to meet our aspiration to be recognised as a world class asset and incident management service.
You will manage a field based team with a range of technical skills that maintain and operate our field based assets, reducing flood risk to our local communities.

Have a particular focus on maintenance, asset operation, construction and incident response in a high-risk environment. A critical part of your role is being responsible for leading the team, ensuring they are trained, competent and supported and have the right information, tools and equipment available to them.
Lead people; provide clear direction, instruction and guidance through effective performance management.

Identify and source plant/equipment required by the team and assist in delivery of our asset management programme in line with our Health, Safety, Environment and Wellbeing (SHEW) Code of Practice and relevant operation instructions. Understand CDM Regulations 2015 and fulfil duties as Principal Contractor.

Understand H&S responsibilities to support our operatives and ensure our equipment remains compliant, including LOLER and PUWER Regulations.

As appointed Site Liaison Officer for all assets assigned to the role, ensure skills and competency are maintained to fulfil duties.

Help lead our operational response to incidents inside and outside of normal working hours by participating, training and exercising in an incident 365-standby role (usually FODO) and any incident-activated role.
Desirable Skills:

Ability to resource, prioritise and deliver a work programme. Identify required competencies and skills needed. Understand management of budgets, revenue and/or capital expenditure.

A level of commercial acumen and knowledge of our supply chain to assist in delivery of work programmes is beneficial but not essential.

A relevant degree and specialist training such as National Examination Board of Safety Health (NEBOSH) and/or Institute of Asset Management Certificate (IAM) is beneficial but not essential.

The vacancy will be based at our Askham Depot NOT our Trentside office
