Could you use your experience and understanding of the waste management industry to maximise the potential for waste to be used as a resource? Our Resources from Waste Team support the development of the Circular Economy and help implement the Government’s Resource and Waste Strategy and are looking to recruit an Advisor to help with this work.

We are looking for someone to provide technical support to the Senior Advisors that are leading on the waste Quality Protocol reviews as well as the production of new Resource Frameworks. You will work with both internal colleagues and external stakeholders to help deliver these key outcomes.

There will also be an opportunity to get involved with other activities in the team such as the Definition of Waste Service and the Definition of Waste Code of practice. The role involves problem solving either around technical aspects of the work, the delivery our services or other business challenges. The role also requires the Advisor to input on the development of guidance and processes and lead on these areas when required.
The Resources from Waste team sits within Waste Regulation in the EA’s Environment and Business Directorate. We provide advice and guidance to the wider business and offer a commercial service to external customers as well as policy input to Defra on all aspects of End of Waste. There are three sub teams: Definition of Waste Service, Resources Frameworks and Definition of Waste Code of Practice.
You will ideally need:

• A good understanding of waste regulation including definition of waste,

• The ability to read and analyse and interpret technical documentation. You will be comfortable in decision making and will present back your own ideas, based on evidence and interpretation, to make recommendations to colleagues,

• To be used to working at pace and able to think on your feet,

• Great customer engagement skills,

• A proactive approach to your work, and

• To be able to work as part of a dispersed team and show you can use your initiative to work independently and manage your time effectively.
