We are looking for an Intelligence Research Officer to join the Illegal Waste Exports (IWE) Team, part of National Enforcement Service (NES), in a dynamic part of the business.

Environmental crime is a strategic priority for us, attracting high profile attention from the public, media, national and international stakeholders. The role provides an exciting opportunity for you to help support our response by researching various data systems and deliver our objective of regulating and enforcing against illegal waste exports.
Our ambition is to be an intelligence-led organisation so having the ability to interrogate and work with a range of systems is essential.

Being a team player and establishing effective working relationships with your colleagues will be critical to ensuring that we take an intelligence led approach to stopping illegal exports of waste.
You will be part of the National Enforcement Service’s Intelligence & Partnerships department. You will work alongside our intelligence professionals, as well as field-based staff, providing input and timely support. This role is essential in driving our objective of regulating and enforcing against illegal waste exports.
The following experience and skills are highly relevant:

• Experience of working with large data sets;
• You will be competent on IT systems including Microsoft Excel;
• You will be happy to communicate with various internal and external customers.

Note that security vetting checks (SC and NPPV3) will be required.
Location is flexible and we are happy to support smarter ways of working through a mixture of home and office working. Occasional travel to Birmingham will be required as this is where the team are centrally based.

We want to reflect the diverse communities that we serve, embracing difference and including everyone, so welcome applications from groups that are under-represented across our workforce.

For an informal chat, please contact Sanjiv Syal (Team Leader) sanjiv.syal@environment-agency.gov.uk

The interviews will be held at our offices in Birmingham. We can make provision to hold them on MS Teams, in accentuating circumstances.
