We seek established hydrogeologists with proven groundwater modelling experience who can apply their skills to help us regulate and improve the groundwater environment of the South East. This challenging, dynamic, and high profile role will include provision of high level groundwater modelling technical leadership and support. Working closely with area technical specialists and officers across the south east, and with internal and external customers and partners you will be expected to set business direction of a groundwater modelling programme, develop a groundwater modelling strategy and manage source protection zones. The role will require regular travel to or area offices in Kent and South London, Hertfordshire and North London and Solent and South Downs.
The Groundwater and Contaminated Land team is a multifunctional team working to protect the quality and quantity of our groundwater resource. We provide technical support to internal teams and work closely with external organisations including water companies, local authorities, and consultants to achieve this aim. The team is based in our Reading and Wallingford offices.
You will have a degree in geology, environmental science or civil engineering and ideally have an MSc in a related subject. You will have a sound understanding of groundwater modelling concepts, data and techniques. Alongside this you will have experience of the analysis and interpretation of data and information to inform decision making and problem solving. As a confident communicator you will be able to convey information and ideas easily to a range of audiences and draw in experience of coaching and mentoring on complex technical issues. Confidently working across many teams, sharing best practice, and drawing on project management skills will be central to providing technical leadership in groundwater modelling. Taking initiative and working independently will support this. You will be a member or working towards chartered status of a professional body.
Closing Date: 20th November 2017 at 23:55 hours

You will be based in Reading approximately two days a week. You will be expected to carry out site visits and regularly travel between offices in the south east, so you will need a full UK driving licence.
