The role of PSO team leader is varied and rewarding. As well as being a visible leader, you will work to deliver strategic interventions with risk management authorities, and ensure we are managing flood and coastal risk to communities across North Yorkshire and the Coast. You will own key relationships at all levels with partners, and be responsible for managing reputation. Your team will be responsible for the development of catchment based interventions to reduce flood risk and will work to secure investment to enable scheme delivery, support growth and enhance place. The patch is varied in environment and politics. A key focus will be working with Asset Performance teams to develop future investment plan for existing assets, and with a wide range of partners to develop new schemes, as well as ensuring our statutory duties are fulfilled for strategic flood risk plans, local planning response and permitting.

You would also be expected to play a role in incident management, ensuring that we help maintain our reputation as a trusted incident responder.
The role is based in Foss House, York. Focus will be on scheme development, planning and permitting, as well as working closely with other risk management authorities and other partners.
• Providing wider corporate leadership and influence as a member of the area leadership team.
• Leading teams, embedding the right culture, particularly through periods of change.
• An appropriate level of experience and commensurate knowledge of managing health, safety and wellbeing.
• Building strong internal and external relationships with a range of partners/stakeholders.
• Experience of managing key external customer relationships with significant organisations and communities in relation to contentious issues.
• Excellent communication and customer engagement skills that enhance our reputation with partner/stakeholder organisations and help to identify partnership funding opportunities.
• An understanding of river and coastal process is desirable.
• An understanding of scheme development appraisal is desirable
