Are you passionate about tackling crime in the waste sector? We are looking for a technical leader to push forward the prevention and disruption of waste crime in our West Hub. As one of the senior officers in the team, you will be responsible for producing and delivering intelligence-led strategies to target priority waste offenders. You will be supported by Environmental Crime Officers within the team so there will be a need to work effectively as a unit as well as supporting their development through coaching and mentoring.

We can achieve great things by collaborating. You will have a role in consolidating relationships with key partners as well as identifying new partners and tactics wherever possible.

You will be required to work effectively with Areas within the West Hub to embed and promote Prevention and Disruption as an enforcement tool – primarily within Regulated Industry but across all regimes in the longer term. You will support Areas in your Hub where resource or expertise for local priorities is requested.

Measuring and evaluating our work is important and you will support your peers and team leader in using data and metrics to evaluate the effectiveness of the interventions we use.
Sitting within the National Enforcement Service, we work closely with a variety of operational teams and external partners to undertake prevention and disruption work. We proactively target criminal networks operating on a national scale or across area boundaries where enforcement action is more effective by being co-ordinated strategically. We are passionate about developing new tactics and embedding disruption capability across the business to make a real impact on serious and organised criminals and their networks
This is a technical leadership role - supporting the team and team leader to secure operational outcomes and continuous improvement. Key skills include:
• Practical and recent enforcement experience in relation to serious and major offending and intelligence-led action, ideally involving organised crime groups
• Broad knowledge of waste legislation and enforcement policy
• Able to deal with confrontational situations confidently and safely
• Effective at communicating with different audiences
• Able to innovate, develop new tactics and try something new
• Professionalism in representing the Environment Agency. Able to foster close working relationships with internal and external partners
• Skilled influencer - able to secure the support of internal and external partners
• Outcome-focused with a drive to push for solutions and make them happen
• Understands the wider enforcement picture and how our work ties in to the Environment Agency's enforcement strategies
Closing Date: 18/02/2019 at 23:55 hours
We are a dispersed team and work flexibly to support each other, mobilising resource quickly when required. Smart working is encouraged. You will be required to travel to different office and field locations with the occasional overnight stay away from home so a full UK driving licence is required.

Base location is flexible but the role will operationally cover the five Areas in the West Hub.

We embrace difference and include everyone so welcome applications from people from all walks of life including those who wish to work part-time or flexibly.
