This is a senior leadership role within the Waste & Enforcement Department. The post holder will support the Area Environment Manager and Department Team Leaders to deliver strategic priorities which include:
-Management of our Waste Leadership Group
-Management of our Regulated Industry Board
-Ensuring effective Ways of Working across Regulated Industry
-Management of Key Business Risks
-Management of our Waste Leadership Group

Our Waste and Enforcement Department regulates the waste industry from the Scottish Borders down to Teesside. We regulate industry, prepare for and respond to environmental incidents and we tackle waste crime. We do this using a wide range of interventions to minimise the impacts of waste on people and the environment.
We are looking for an individual with a proven track record for leading people and delivering results.
The ability to self-start, understand the business and see the bigger picture will be key along with excellent communication and networking skills.
Other expectations include:
-Influencing and negotiating across disciplines.
-Flexing communication style to deliver tough messages when necessary.
-Working individually or through others to deliver results on time, to required quality standards and cost, to fulfil the Department/RI Plan
-Understanding, interpreting and communicating the role of the Environment Agency broadly, and maintaining understanding of external partners and customers whilst managing their expectations.
-Management of health, safety & wellbeing by actively promoting awareness and good practice, and ensuring the provision of safe working practices in line with Environment Agency guidance.
-Promoting inclusion by respecting differences and building a supportive and engaging workplace.
Deputising at ALT level will also be required
