This is a data and service management role that will play a critical part in the delivery of Defra and the Environment Agency’s Data Services Platform (DSP).
The DSP is an Environment Agency managed, Defra wide service providing access to over 3000 datasets and web services as well as our heavily used applications built using Linked Data technology.

You will help manage, develop and take forward our data sharing services, engage with internal and external stakeholders, and ensure business requirements are met efficiently and effectively.

With a strong technical and customer focussed background you will support the day to day running of the Data Services Platform (DSP), by working closely with external suppliers and with colleagues across the EA and Defra.

You will:

• Provide support to help manage the day to day running of the Data Services Platform. This includes:
o supporting the data self-publishing process
o managing user registrations
• Work with services owners across the EA to scope and implement new data and data services and identify enhancements across the platform for the EA and Defra
• Provide technical support for the data and services hosted on the DSP and respond to customer feedback and queries
• Support the onboarding of the new DSP suppliers during exit and implementation phases, and then manage supplier BAU relationships with the team
• Support the Data Flow Mapping service to document the lineage of our data assets and the corporate and environmental outcomes they support.
• Champion the DSP internally and externally
The Data Sharing & Access team is part of Data & Information within The COO Directorate which provides cross-cutting services to our wider business. We are a national team providing technical services, advice, and leadership to share our data and information in line with legislation. We support the business to deliver their outcomes and lead the Defra Group in Data Sharing Services.
• Have a keen interest in Environment Agency and Defra data and be able to see the potential on how to maximise its use and reach
• Proven data management experience is a must
• An understanding of Spatial and Linked Data APIs would be beneficial, but not essential
• Experience working with spatial data and spatial web services is essential
• Good service management and organisation skills are key
• Project management skills are desirable (although you do not have to be a certified project manager)
• A customer-focused approach and the ability to engage with the business are essential
• Having the drive to learn and develop
