Do you have previous experience of agricultural regulation and want to improve our natural environment? Are you able to come up with new ideas to influence farmers, producers and stakeholders across Yorkshire?
We are looking to recruit an enthusiastic and dynamic Agriculture Senior Regulatory Officer that will:
•lead on enforcement actions, such as prosecution and civil sanctions
•develop, coach and support the team on regulatory and enforcement options
•deliver the Testing Approaches to Regulation of Agriculture (TARA) Project focusing on trialling novel and different methods to achieve compliance on farms within bathing water catchments in Yorkshire
•take a landscape scale approach to develop an understanding of how land management practices impact bathing water quality
•carry out inspections and bring farms back into compliance
•effectively communicate and engage with internal teams and external partners to understand, investigate and drive potential solutions on the impact of agricultural practices on bathing waters

Responding to incidents is a central part of what we do. You will be asked to have an incident role and make yourself available to respond to incidents or provide business continuity support during an incident. This may attract an additional payment and full training will be available to support you with your incident role. Further information on incident response can be found within your candidate pack.
You will be based in the Yorkshire Agriculture Regulation Team as well as being part of a Nationally driven project. The Yorkshire Agriculture team works alongside four other geographically placed Land & Water teams in Yorkshire to deliver priorities and environmental outcomes. The team is an operational team that carries out farm inspections and is passionate about promoting best practice amongst the farming community to improve the environment.
We are seeking a candidate that has:

•a self-starter mindset, driven to achieve outcomes and has excellent communication skills
•previous experience of coaching and training others to drive consistency
•the ability to plan work and make sound decisions about prioritising resources
•experience of motivating and inspiring a team to meet challenges and deliver prioritised work
•experience of delivering work to meet Key Performance Indicators and Business Plans
•previous success in working with and influencing stakeholders to deliver environmental benefits
•experience of undertaking regulatory inspections of farms with an excellent knowledge of the Silage, Slurry & Agricultural Fuel Oil regulations (SSAFO), Farming Rules for Water (FRfW) and Nitrate Vulnerable Zones (NVZ).
•experience of applying regulatory and enforcement options
•an understanding of how agricultural practices can affect water quality, particularly regarding bathing waters
•a full UK driving licence
This is a Yorkshire wide based role, and you will be expected to travel to locations across all of Yorkshire.

You will be able to choose an office to be based at in either York, Leeds, Beverley or Rotherham.
