Hydrometry and Telemetry Senior Specialist - 24939

This is a fantastic opportunity to use your technical leadership skills to influence how we deliver Hydrometry & Telemetry (H&T) into the future. As a senior specialist you will focus on ensuring our Hydrometry and Telemetry network is fit for the future, working across functions to ensure that we take a strategic view of our network and that we are monitoring the right things in the right places.
You must have excellent Hydrometry and Telemetry skills and significant experience of working with both internal and external stakeholders to deliver successful monitoring outcomes. Your role is to drive the collection of high quality hydrometric data forward, providing strategic guidance to support a successful network. You will be expected to share your knowledge and help develop skills within the Area. You will also understand the importance of operating in a safe environment and ensure we are adopting the best Health, Safety and Wellbeing and technological practices across the area.

We are looking for individuals who can demonstrate;
• A strong track record of working with and building effective working relationships.
• Excellent negotiation and persuasion skills with a proven leadership background.
• The ability to achieve successful outcomes with those who have differing viewpoints is essential for this role.
• Experience of delivering strategic hydrometric solutions to complex problems.
• Hydrometric network management experience.
• Experience of partnership working, stakeholder engagement and influencing skill.
• Sound knowledge of the use and limitations of hydrometric data in modelling

The role will link with a number of teams across the Area, working predominantly with the H&T and Water Land and Biodiversity Asset Management teams. It will require significant amounts of engagement across Environment and Business and Flood and Coastal Erosion Risk Management so good networks are an advantage. It will also involve working with customers and partners from public, private (e.g. Water Companies).

You will be an expert in Hydrometry and Telemetry with a relevant degree or significant experience with:
• Extensive experience of hydrometry and telemetry
• Significant experience in hydrometric data collection with understanding of data limitations
• Significant relevant experience and perhaps a post graduate qualification in a relevant discipline.
• You will have great communication skills and have the ability to develop and maintain effective relationships with internal and external partners.
