Do you want to help us, our partner organisations, and our communities, to be better prepared for flooding?
You will have an opportunity to gain experience of the varied work that Flood Resilience is involved in, including the Flood Warning Service.
You can expect to:
• Support our flood incident management arrangements and Flood Warning Service
• Support our engagement with partner organisations and communities
You’ll be involved in a wide variety of work to deliver improvements to our flood warning service and incident management arrangements. This will include analysing our data to maintain and improve our service, updating flood incident procedures and ensuring duty officers have the tools to undertake their role to enhance the way we plan and respond to flood incidents
The role will give you the opportunity to work across other functions to support important areas of work, engaging with communities and partners to help to plan for incidents and minimise the impact of flooding.

Responding to incidents is a central part of what we do. You will be required to have an incident role and make yourself available to respond to incidents, or provide business continuity support during an incident. This may attract an additional payment and full training and alternative working arrangements will be available to support you with your incident role.
You’ll work in the Flood Resilience team who are responsible for managing our Flood Warning Service and building resilient communities. We work towards ensuring our partners and communities are prepared for flooding.
You'll be well organised and have excellent attention to detail to ensure our work is delivered to a high standard. You'll be a self-starter and a quick-learner with a strong customer-focus. You'll be able to work as part of a team and individually, prioritising an interesting and varied workload. You will be interested in the flood risk and resilience and have a passion for making a difference. You'll be good at working under pressure, working flexibly and at pace, and delivering outcomes.

Experience of technical mapping using GIS is desirable.
For further information regarding the roles, please contact:
Tina Donaldson, Flood Resilience Team Leader on 07823 669524 or tina.donaldson@environment-agency.gov.uk

Ideally you will be based in a Thames Area Office. However, we work on a flexible basis and you will be able to blend home working and office attendance subject to work requirements. There may therefore be some flexibility in your office base location.

You will be required to undertake occasional travel throughout the Thames area.

Interviews will be held online via Microsoft Teams, and are anticipated to take place in mid February.
