We're looking for a proactive, creative and people focused person to join the National Strategic Environment Planning team. If you're looking to lead and support new ways of working in environment planning, our team is a brilliant place to be.

Your ability to work collaboratively, build trusting relationships, influence ways of working and maintain networks at all levels of the organisation will be critical to success.

We need an experienced leader who will:
• Find ways to join up and work across the business to make our environmental planning work better, more efficient, and more impactful
• Continuously improve communications on environment planning across the business
• Drive the development and improvement of guidance on how the business does environment planning
• Provide leadership and support to the environment planning community

You will also be able to contribute to:
• Setting the strategy and direction for evidence-based Environment Planning
• Supporting river basin planning and the approach to working in modified waters, including the recent update of the river basin management plans
• Coordinating technical and management networks to improve delivery of integrated environment planning and help teams plan their workload and priorities
• Supporting the business through weekly, monthly, quarterly and annual communications and reporting
The Strategic Environment Planning team are a warm and friendly team who value and support each other to be ourselves and be the best we can. The team is part of Water Strategy and Partnerships in E&B.

We have a broad remit to develop and steer the strategy and approach to Environment Planning.
We are looking for:
• A sound understanding of environment planning, the benefits it delivers and the work it involves, preferably with some knowledge of River Basin Planning
• Excellent communication skills and an eye for detail. We need you to be able to write clearly and develop, refine and improve messages to make them straightforward and unambiguous
• Proactive problem-solving skills that mean you can work with others to deliver work and improve ways of working
• Networking skills that enable you to build and maintain relationships with colleagues across and at all levels of the business

You will be working as part of a dispersed team, so there will be occasional travel to meetings in Birmingham and Bristol and other offices, with some overnight stays included.
