As an Incident Advisor you will be responsible for helping to ensure WSX is ready and resilient to respond to any incidents that come our way. The role will involve supporting incident planning and preparation activities by providing incident expertise and technical leadership. You will work closely with key incident management roles in the Area and nationally and ensure effective collaboration with our external partners. You will maintain excellent situational awareness, respond to current incidents and plan for emerging incident risks. You will help to embed a culture of continuous improvement; making sure we are consistently learning from incidents to help us prevent or better manage them in the future.

The successful candidates will also be expected to take on a daytime Area Base Controller role - full training will be given. Responding to incidents is a central part of what we do. You will be required to have an incident role and make yourself available to respond to incidents or provide business continuity support during an incident. This may attract an additional payment and full training and alternative working arrangements will be available to support you with your incident role.
The Area Incident team shapes and delivers the planning, preparation, and response to many types of incidents. The team ensures our incident response is resilient and we maintain our professional standing as a Category 1 responder. The team will deliver the tactical first response during office hours to the full range of incidents within the Environment Agency remit.

Through experience to date you will ideally be able to demonstrate:
• Good leadership skills – as ABC in a tactical first response role
• The ability to support strategic incident planning activities by providing incident expertise.
• You are team player who is able to adapt to changing priorities to achieve a common goal.
• Delivery of work by planning, tracking, gathering, and maintaining information.
• Excellent written and verbal communications skills.
• The ability to lead/support delivery of priorities through working groups.
• Making risk-based decisions and delivering continuous improvements.
• An understanding of the role and responsibilities of a Category 1 responder.
• Proven experience of working collaboratively and maintaining good relationships with customers/partners.
• A commitment to equality, diversity, and inclusion and to tackling the climate and ecological emergency through your work.
• An enthusiasm for and expertise in incident management
