We’re looking for an enthusiastic and motivated person with excellent planning, communication and data handling skills who is passionate about managing Water Resources in Yorkshire. Working closely with other teams and team members, you’ll help provide direction, support and lead on technical water resources issues, manage risks and help make the most of opportunities for the environment.

Working closely with both National and Area colleagues, you will:
• Lead on technical water resources issues and licensing in your patch: including changes to CAMS and ALS
• Support the delivery and management of PR24
• Support the management of prolonged dry weather and drought
• Lead the area response to the water company Water Resource Management Plan
• Lead the area response to regional planning via Water Resources North
• Work closely with colleagues in IEP to deliver the Chalk strategy for Yorkshire area
The Yorkshire Integrated Environment Planning (IEP) Operations team is predominantly a water planning team with specialists in water resources and water quality.
Working with area operational teams, national policy makers and other stakeholders, in particular water companies, we produce the environmental plans that drive Yorkshire area priorities.
Our team of advisors are at the heart of environmental decision making, facilitating integrated actions to solve complex problems.
You will have proven ability / expert knowledge that incorporates at least some of the following:
• An environmental degree and/or experience in water resources work;
• Experience in WR licensing
• Strong communication, influencing and networking skills;
• Good organisational skills and ability to plan, track, deliver and evaluate work.
• Experience of translating guidance and instructions into local delivery;
• Experience of using evidence to explore problems and propose effective and innovative solutions;
• Ability to coach and mentor others to improve resilience within the environment planning community.
• Ability to work under own initiative and as part of a larger, cross-functional/multidisciplinary team
• Ability to prioritise and deliver work to high standards and tight deadlines.

The role is based at the Leeds, York or Sheffield Environment Agency office although currently staff are predominantly working from home.
