We’re seeking someone who is enthusiastic and team orientated, with outstanding interpersonal skills and strong technical leadership abilities. Ideally experienced in telemetry in particular, you will have the drive to make a positive contribution to climate change, ensuring future generations inherit a healthier environment.
You will be expected to manage delivery through others, in the field and the office, leading and coaching officers through an exciting period of change.

The role will include:
•A strong focus on Health, Safety and Wellbeing in fieldwork, in particular keeping people safe through electrical authorisations, processes and COPES. Liaising with MEICA and electrical contractors for business assurance and project delivery.
•Working in collaboration with our Hydrometry Technical Specialist as a technical leadership team, using your knowledge and experience to plan, configure and manage Hydrometry and Telemetry work and systems.
•Providing telemetry technical leadership on projects such as Future of National Telemetry (FoNT), Capital Projects, our network maintenance programme and upgrade plans with an emphasis on telemetry and instrumentation.
•Building relationships with national colleagues and with external partners and suppliers to enable you to seek and implement improvements, resilience and efficiencies to our network and guarantee that timely and reliable data is accessible by our customers.
•Networking with local customers and national stakeholders to assess, plan and deliver local contributions to Environment Agency strategy, e.g. carbon net zero, biodiversity net gain, and crucial incident response work.
•Supporting Team Leadership and acting as Team Leader when needed.


Responding to incidents is a central part of what we do. You will be required to have an incident role and make yourself available to respond to incidents or provide business continuity support during an incident. This may attract an additional payment and full training and alternative working arrangements will be available to support you with your incident role.
The successful candidate will join our highly motivated Hydrometry & Telemetry Team in Blandford. Our friendly, inclusive team operates and installs hydrometric and telemetry assets to ensure accurate data is available for customers 24/7. We work closely with colleagues in other teams, share knowledge freely, develop individual strengths and innovate using the latest technological advances.

Essential:
Role model of outstanding health, safety and wellbeing behaviours.
Qualified to Degree level (or significant experience in Hydrometry and Telemetry or similar science).
Knowledge of design, installation and maintenance of H&T monitoring equipment; telemetry systems and data management.
Capable in taking responsibility for technical delivery of Area H&T priorities.
Excellent interpersonal skills and confidence in communicating in writing and verbally with key customers, colleagues, and stakeholders at local and national level.
A proactive approach and strong use of initiative will be key in managing your own workload to meet deadlines and delivering results through others in a dynamic environment.
Confident working in water and working alone.
A driving licence is essential for site visits.

Preferred:
Proven track record of technical leadership - inspiring, training and coaching others.
Competent in providing Team Leader cover as necessary.
Capable of working in and leading others through change.
Electrical Authorisation Level A
