We’re looking for an individual to join the Material Facilities and Separate Collections team, part of Operations Regulatory Services.
The portfolio responsibility is Separate Collection’s.
You will work alongside the Principal Technical Officer to produce project work looking at Local Council’s management of kerbside collections to influence compliance work with related Material Facility sites.
Role will Include:
• Support Defra’s delivery of regulatory reform including public consultation, stakeholder engagement and the development of guidance, secondary legislation and impact assessments;
• Support developing scenarios and indicative delivery model for future compliance work;
• Support exploration of inter-dependencies and opportunities for integration with Extended Producer Responsibility.
• Lead a cross-regime case study to investigate recyclate waste flows which provides useful intelligence for other regulatory reforms
• Support staff with governance OI and feedback to other business areas on any continuous improvements, along with recommended changes
• Help Lead and Influence Desktop and Face to Face Audit’s to ensure Notified MF Sites are complying with Part of the Environmental Permitting (England and Wales) Regulations 2016, Schedule 9.
• Be point of contact for sourcing external training and lead on delivering in-house governance training alongside allocating, scoping, and progressing investigation plans
WROS was established from 01 April 2019 following a restructure of our frontline delivery. Material Facilities and Separate Collections Team monitor the Quality of Material Recycled to Maximize Environmental and Economic Benefits of Re-Processing to meet the need and expectations of Local Council’s Recycling Strategies.
You’ll be supporting the team to work collaboratively with departments across the Environment Agency, competent authorities and law enforcement agencies to target offenders using a risk based, intelligence led approach.
We need individuals to demonstrate the following;
• Excellent communication and influencing skills, with the ability to present factual, verbal and written reasoning.
• Good analytical skills with the ability to provide a wider strategic approach
• Leadership and supervisory qualities are desirable to facilitate the delivery of work
• Organisational and planning skills to deliver on multiple conflicting work streams
• Coaching skills, conducting peer to peer review of case files, helping to support changes to ways of working
• Proven experience of working in a customer focused, service delivery role;
• Good interpersonal and influencing skills demonstrating the ability to build and maintain effective working relationships.
• Proven ability in prioritising and managing a varied workload;
• A record of adapting or improving ways of working to increase efficiency & productivity;
• The ability to interpret detailed technical guidance quickly and correctly;
Office base is flexible along with flexitime. You will need to be comfortable with working in a dispersed team.
