Operations Regulatory Services (ORS) is expanding and we need a new Manager to lead some of our teams whilst we determine the optimal structure. You’ll be leading part of the current Waste Regimes Operational Service (WROS) team to generate positive environmental outcomes by regulating industry, ensuring compliance and eliminating illegal activity. The team of approx. 100 will deliver over a wide range of waste regimes locally, nationally and internationally with technically skilled, customer focused specialists recognized for their track record of innovation and delivery.

As an ORS Manager, you will be responsible for performance management, budgeting, recruitment and succession planning, ensuring a high performing team. You will be pivotal in shaping how the team works flexibly and consistently to deliver in a changing environment. Our people are at the heart of our work: you will be responsible for ensuring that your people have the best support and contribute to our open, inclusive and trusting culture.

Whilst providing strong leadership to the team, you will also contribute to the wider goals of the Agency through the ORS Leadership Team, building and developing relationships within ORS and the wider business, ensuring we continue to deliver for the Agency and the wider community.
This new team will be formed from part of Waste Regimes Operational Service (WROS), a function of Operations Regulatory Services within Operations Regulation Monitoring and Customer. The team will consist of regulatory specialists planning monitoring and delivering compliance and enforcement activity for some of the following areas of waste regulation; Separate Collections, Material Recovery Facilities, Packaging, Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment (WEEE), Batteries and International Waste Shipments.
- A capable leader with experience of leading diverse and dispersed operational teams
- Experience of leading the delivery of complex pieces of work in a pressured environment
- The ability to influence at all levels through the organisation with experience of securing senior level commitment through engaging boards and leadership teams
- Proven experience of developing and maintaining good relationships with internal and external customers
- Communicating complex ideas effectively to a diverse range of people
- Be able to utilise your working knowledge of the Environment Agency and business processes to lead the work of your staff.

ORS is made up of teams based mainly in Sheffield and Warrington, though alternative locations will be considered. Some national travel will be required.
