Are you looking for a career where you can make a real difference? Do you want to make East Anglia a better place to live and work? Ensuring growth in the region protects and enhances our unique environment?

Our Planning Advisors do just that, and if you have a passion for this we would love for you to apply and join our team!

Your work will involve:
• Managing statutory consultations for a number of Local Planning Authorities (LPAs) within East Anglia which are designated to you. This will include pre-planning work, planning applications (including major schemes), and local plan work.
• Building relationships with your LPAs, developers, consultants and others so that you successfully influence outcomes on site-specific and strategic issues.
• Engage with a range of internal teams to coordinate our technical advice.
• Identifying and embracing new ways of working to improve our efficiency and customer service.

In East Anglia we have some of the biggest environmental challenges: a large coastline; over 3800km of main river; chalk stream rivers; the UKs driest region; and numerous designated and environmentally sensitive areas. Though challenging, this creates opportunities for an interesting, varied and diverse workload.

The Sustainable Places team is part of a cross cutting department that works in partnership with internal and external stakeholders to deliver EA2025 goals.

We use a place-based approach to influence strategic plans, planning applications and Nationally Significant Infrastructure Projects, working closely with technical teams to evaluate environmental data, evidence and assessments.

We are a positive, friendly and hardworking team who take pride in protecting and enhancing the environment for future generations.
You will be able to demonstrate the following:
• A willingness to learn new things and take on information quickly.
• Strong customer service, communication and relationship building skills – both written and verbal.
• Ability to confidently negotiate and influence others.
• Ability to synthesis information from a wide range of sources, making sound decisions when presented with competing or complex factors.
• Excellent time management and organisational skills and the ability to positively respond to changing and challenging priorities within set timescales.
• Enjoy working in a team, supporting your colleagues when needed.
• A positive and enthusiastic attitude, with a drive to seek new innovative ways of working.

It will be an advantage to have experience/an understanding of the UK planning system and/or key environmental issues.

Most importantly, you need a passion to develop a career which will create a better place for people and wildlife.
In East Anglia we want to create a diverse workplace where individuals are respected, valued and listened to. We’re all different, and by embracing Equality, Diversity & Inclusion (EDI) we can become an equal opportunity employer where we grow and learn together.

It is our ambition to champion diversity through building a workforce as diverse as the communities we serve.

We will accommodate working from home but you'll be required to attend your base location, Ipswich or Brampton office, on a regular basis.

For further details, we would be very happy to speak with you:
