Together with helping us streamlining process, building strong networks, developing training for relevant staff, you will be a strong communicator who can help embed new ways of working into operations. You’ll also work closely with the National biodiversity and geomorphology teams.

You will ensure that appropriate standards are met in accordance with the Environment Agency policies and procedures.
We have oversight of the regulation of river activities (flood risk activities) and are responsibility for the provision of technical advice and support across the business as well as working closely with Government.

We’re seeking a specialist with several years of relevant practical experience and an excellent working knowledge of conservation and ecological matters.

You’ll be qualified to at least degree standard (or equivalent) in a relevant technical discipline and have an excellent knowledge of the conservation sector, our conservation duties, and protected areas. A good knowledge and understanding of the Habitats Directive, the Countryside and Rights of Way (CRoW) Act and our regulatory and operational activities is essential.

Knowledge and understanding of the Environmental Permitting Regulations would be a distinct advantage as would some wider knowledge of related subjects in fisheries and geomorphology.

You’ll be well organised, computer literate and able to respond to tight deadlines.

You should be able to work both independently and as part of a small team.

You’ll have excellent communication and influencing skills, together with the ability to explain technical issues clearly.
This assignment is being offered on either a full-time or part time basis.

The role will be flexibly based as part of a dispersed national team. There will be some travel across the Environment Agency to other office locations in line with our travel policy, and there may be infrequent occasional long days and overnight stays.
