We have two exciting roles in digital strategy and digital delivery that will provide an excellent opportunity to work at a national level and make a real difference to the future direction and experience of digital in the whole organisation.

One role will be leading on developing a new Vision and Strategy for digital for the EA, working closely with senior colleagues and partners in the EA and in Data, Digital and Technology Services (DDTS) and drawing from best practice externally. The role will also identify opportunities for improvement and develop an improvement roadmap and support wider team initiatives and priorities.

The second role will be the Environment Agency lead on the delivery of 'FMO2' - the 'Future Mode of Operation', essentially the delivery of a new, cross Defra device build, building on the work from the Windows 10 programme. You will work closely with our DDTS partners, business leads and IT custodians to plan and co-ordinate the delivery of the work, including application testing, and proactively communicate with staff and partners as well as respond to questions, including questions of a technical nature.
The Digital Strategy team is currently a temporary team that sits in the Digital and IT team within Sustainability and Service Operations, part of the Chief Operating Officer’s directorate.

The team's responsibilities include:
- Developing and implementing a new Vision and Strategy for Digital for the Environment Agency.
- Working with Data, Digital and Technology Services (DDTS) in Defra and across the Environment Agency’s business on longer term technology planning and delivery.
You will be self-motivated, comfortable working in a dispersed team and able to demonstrate the following through skills, knowledge or experience :

- A confident and effective communicator, able to engage and enthuse and adapt appropriately with a range of people including senior leaders, technical experts as well as staff from across the business.
- Sound, senior level experience of digital delivery, e.g. from a digital transformation project or programme, ideally as a project/programme or product manager.
- Knowledge of the Environment Agency Business and the data and systems that support these activities is desirable.
- You will be able to demonstrate operational understanding of managing a fast-paced programme or portfolio at a leadership level.
- Technical knowledge and skills are useful, but not essential. You’ll be able to act as a confident client, ensuring our needs are understood and met by our delivery partners.
If you would like to discuss the positions, please contact Louise Every at louise.every@environment-agency.gov.uk.
