We’re looking for a proactive, influential, and experienced individual to join our Partnerships and Strategic overview team as our Area’s Project Delivery Senior Advisor.

As an expert in flood and coastal risk management and a Chartered Engineer, you will:

- Undertake the project sponsor role for several Flood and Coastal Risk Management (FCRM) projects.

- Lead the Senior User Forum, providing training and direction to our cohort of Senior Users.

- Unlock programme level blockers to projects working closely with the Area Catchment Engineer and Area Coastal Engineer.

- Provide technical support and direction to colleagues on topics spanning FCRM project delivery, linking in projects to achieve multiple benefits and supporting the creation of robust business cases.

- Be a key part of the Integrated Delivery Team supporting projects to move at pace from development through to delivery.

- Link to our National teams providing national best practise to local delivery issues and challenges.

- Support and escalate project issues through our Governance Boards.

With an annual Environment Agency Flood and Coastal Erosion Risk Management (FCERM) capital budget of approximately £25MIllion across Devon and Cornwall your role will be critical to deliver the most for our communities and the environment
This role will be in our new Environment Agency capital project development and delivery team, part the Partnerships and Strategic Overview team in our Flood and Coastal Risk Management department. This team focuses on the development and delivery of Environment Agency led capital projects, working closely with the Integrated Delivery Team.

Delivering a multi-functional and multi-fundable programme of new projects, increasing the resilience to flooding of our communities in Devon and Cornwall
You will need to be a chartered civil engineer (CEng) and have strong experience in Flood and Coastal Risk Management.

Also:

• To be educated to degree level (or equivalent)

• Substantial experience in the appraisal, design and construction of civil engineering projects.

• Strong team spirit, self-motivated, and a positive, can-do, proactive attitude.

• Excellent communication and influencing experience, skills and approach. You need to build and maintain strong networks internally and externally to deliver sustainable results and work with people to adapt to a changing climate.

• Excellent mentoring skills to inspire and support colleague to progress and develop.
