This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to achieving sustainable abstraction and healthy rivers across chalk catchments. Working with area chalk technical and planning leads you will identify, develop and deliver suitable projects to address water resource issues in chalk streams. Fundamental to this will be developing our engagement and relationships with partners. We need to work closely with technical leads across the area to identify and deliver our key messages around chalk catchments. You will involve stakeholders in development of the area chalk action plan for water resources and work on the engagement section of the plan.

You will also engage with stakeholders to enable a participatory approach to chalk stream management to:

• understand the current WR status of chalk streams and scale of abstraction impacts
• understand and assist with plans to improve technical understanding of chalk streams
• contribute to decision making approach on options for the future management of chalk streams
• input to delivery of actions related to engagement in the chalk CaBA strategy, Flagship Catchments and local plans

Working with area chalk technical and planning leads you will identify, develop and deliver suitable projects to address water resource issues in chalk streams.
The post sits within the Herts and North London Environment Programme team. The team’s work consists of:
• Catchment approach and partnerships - partner relations, identifying and facilitating shared interests
• Developing and building programmes
• Managing and delivering programmes - to ensure our projects delivers the planned outcomes to time, cost and quality.
• Ways of working - to build capability and capacity through continuous improvement within the EA and our catchment partners
• a relevant degree or equivalent experience
• awareness of water resources and chalk issues and environmental improvements 
• a self-starter who can deliver key project tasks
• very good written and verbal communication skills
• good at networking and establishing relationships with technical leads
• strong influencing skills and experience of working successfully with external partners
