You will provide a technical administration role within Herefordshire and Shropshire Field Operations facilitating in the delivery of our routine and intermittent programme and Incident Response capabilities.  You will report directly to the Field Team Leader and liaise with Specialist, Lead and Team Members, ensuring we maintain legal compliance with legislation such as Hand Arm Vibrations (HAV’s), Provision and Use of Work Equipment Regulations (PUWER), Lifting Operations and Lifting Equipment Regulations (LOLER) and Control of Substances Hazardous to Health (COSHH). You will support the Field Team Leader in the execution of their Site Liaison and Responsible officer duties and responsibilities. 

You should demonstrate a positive, adaptable, and professional approach with a ‘can do’ attitude as a worthy team player. Good organisational skills and a proven ability to work under pressure are essential. You must understand site Health, Safety and Welfare requirements and you will need excellent communication skills to work with customers and partners. 

You will be comfortable and able to work with the team both in an office and outdoor environments in all weathers while supporting both maintenance and Incident response requirements.
Our field teams protect people and the environment by maintaining and operating our flood and coastal risk management assets and responding to incidents.  

Field teams have a range of technical skills they use to deliver watercourse maintenance, along with asset maintenance and construction projects. The team handle a variety of specialist equipment including heavy, light plant and boats. 

They support the prevention or mitigation of incidents day and night.
• The ideal candidate will be IT literate, and familiar with Microsoft Office packages. We would like you to have an understanding of records management. 



• Competent in using IT devices, such as Laptops, iPad and iPhone, and willing to learn our in-house systems; good literacy and numeracy skills are required. 



• You should have the necessary practical skills and an understanding in environmental awareness as well as a hands-on approach. 



• Experience in asset operation, maintenance and incident response, use of equipment & tools is an advantage however full training will be provided. 





• You will be trained and supported to contribute to our response to incidents inside and outside of normal working hours.



• Have the ability to carry out tasks working independently and answer queries effectively.



• Undertake specialist training as and when required.
Providing response to flood and environmental incidents inside and outside of normal working hours by participating, training and exercising.

  

This role includes taking part in a duty roster which attracts additional payments. 



A full valid driving licence is essential.
