As Manager of the Operational Delivery Performance Monitoring Team (ODPM) within the Portfolio Delivery Office (PDO) in Major Project and Programme Delivery (MPPD), and the Local Operations Directorate you will lead business facing teams of planners, data analysts, business analysts and portfolio analysts which support our delivery teams across the country, focussed on ensuring those delivery teams have the right access to the right performance information to enable efficient and effective delivery of our portfolios of work. As part of PDO your teams will also work across the business as part of the six geographical Hub based Integrated Delivery Teams to improve our Project, Programme and Portfolio delivery effectiveness and maturity.
As a leader within MPDD you will actively support the department ensuring we enable delivery of the Environment Agency’s ambitions set out in the EA2025 and emission 2030.
Our Portfolio Delivery Office is part of Major Projects and Programmes within Local Operations working to deliver key outcomes and enable the business to move forward and meet future challenges including our climate ambitions and adapting to deliver for the future. The team specialises in the following disciplines: data analysis and business insights to support informed decision making, Operational Monitoring and Risk Management and the coordination of budgets of circa £65m.
You will:
• Have a degree level qualification OR substantial experience (5 years +) in managing a number of teams.
• Be a first class leader of teams which work to deadlines and/or assure output meets a defined process.
• Have experience of developing and/or managing operations (conversion of resources into goods and services).
• Be an advocate for change; supporting stakeholders and being adept at having challenging and open conversations; promoting assurance and standard approaches.
• Be a great communicator able to adapt to a wide variety of audiences and styles.
Experience in one or more of the following areas is desirable:

o Portfolio governance.
o Interpreting and visualising complex data for senior leaders.
o Experience of leading service delivery.
o Delivery of projects, programmes and maintenance activities within the EA or a similar organisation.

Also desirable is:
o Relevant Professional Membership eg Chartered Manager.
o P30 Foundation.

This role is national role that can be based in any Environment Agency office.
Salary £58,174
Occasional travel (regionally or nationally) and overnight stays required.
