Here at the Environment Agency we take care of nature and people. If you have a love of leading people and a real interest in the natural world then we would love to hear from you.

We are looking for an enthusiastic self-motivated individual to lead and inspire a newly formed hydrology team delivering across much of East Anglia and Lincolnshire. Our Area hydrologists monitor, analyse, assess, forecast and report on the water environment covering a diverse range of rivers and wetlands. We work on today’s hydrological challenges, whilst making sure we are preparing and adapting to the future challenges of Climate Change.

You will have strong leadership skills, the ability to drive forward priorities and develop a newly formed team. Building and maintaining productive relationships with internal customers will be at the heart of your role. You will oversee budgets, work planning, project delivery and recruitment whilst needing to be flexible and adaptable to changing work priorities.

You will be responsible for the health, safety & wellbeing of your team by actively promoting awareness and ensuring the provision of safe working practices in line with Environment Agency guidance.

You will be a role model and promote inclusion by respecting differences in our workforce and build a supportive and engaging workplace.

Responding to incidents is a central part of what we do. You will be required to have an incident role and make yourself available to respond to incidents or provide business continuity support during an incident. This may attract an additional payment and full training and alternative working arrangements will be available to support you with your incident role.

This is a permanent role based in our East Anglia Area with some travel to other offices. We support flexible working patterns, including job share.
We have a mixture of Technical Specialists and Officers in the Team who provide expertise and advice on water resource management and regulation.

The Team Leader will be a person who is passionate about leading people and seeks to amplify all possibilities for the work the team do. Our Team Leader will become part of our Area Leadership Group which influences the growth and development of the organisation.

You will:
- be able to balance and manage demands on the team from internal and external sources to help prioritise and manage workloads.
- have experience of building and maintaining productive and influential relationships with internal and external customers and partners - a key part of the role.

You'll be offered every support and training in leadership but at the same time have the freedom to find your own style.
In East Anglia we want to create a diverse workplace where individuals are respected, valued and listened to. We’re all different, and by embracing Equality, Diversity & Inclusion (EDI) we can become an equal opportunity employer where we grow and learn together.

It is our ambition to champion diversity through building a workforce as diverse as the communities we serve.

We're a kind team and spend time ensuring everyone develops for the good of themselves and nature.

We offer a fantastic benefits package detailed in the candidate pack.

Eligibility for lease cars is made based on the role. Internal candidates - check the lease car policy and consider its impact before applying
