Do you want to help London and the Thames Estuary adapt to climate change? In this role, you’ll work with teams across the Environment Agency and partners to deliver the Thames Estuary 2100 Plan and help adapt the estuary to rising sea levels.

You’ll use a portfolio management approach to oversee all workstreams, programmes and projects in the Thames Estuary 2100 portfolio. You will be responsible for our portfolio management tools and monitoring progress against the Plan’s outcomes, benefits and corporate metrics, to ensure we have the evidence needed to monitor delivery and make key decisions to drive our work.

You will need to work closely and proactively with Thames Estuary 2100 Managers, the wider team, senior governance boards, area teams and partners, using excellent communication skills to gain relevant information and translate it for your audience. You will spot trends and areas for improvement, and use your influencing skills to guide the direction our projects and workstreams take. You will also work closely with senior leaders to help shape governance meetings and senior stakeholder engagement to drive key decisions.

You will be responsible for data analysis, financial reporting and resource management. Working closely with project managers, you will track project progress and manage risks and opportunities across the portfolio. You’ll develop collaborative and agile approaches to oversee delivery of the Thames Estuary 2100 Plan.

You will be part of our dedicated Thames Estuary 2100 team, made of dynamic and passionate experts in climate adaptation, planning, engagement, flood risk, asset management and programme management. We work closely with the wider London Area to shape the future of the capital, and with area teams to ensure Thames Estuary 2100 is embedded within the wider landscape of our work with stakeholders.
To succeed in this role, you will:

Be able to maintain an oversight of the strategy whilst paying attention to detail

Have experience of budget, risk and opportunity management

Be comfortable with using Excel and Microsoft Project to handle, manipulate & analyse data & information

Be adept at communicating complex information in a simple way, verbally and visually, adapting your style to different audiences

Have experience of proactively identifying areas for improvement and be motivated by finding and implementing solutions

Be confident engaging with senior internal stakeholders as well as working collaboratively with a wide team

Be able to stay organised and calm when things are busy and be adaptable to changing priorities

Be curious, try new things, think creatively and convince others to join you

Have experience working across different functions, with senior stakeholders and complex data
The team is based in our central London office (2 Marsham Street), and you will be expected to work here the majority of the time. Some travel around London and to other area offices will be expected to build and maintain relationships with teams.
