We are seeking applicants with excellent communication and influencing skills to assist with stakeholder engagement and project management. Working within our collaborative project teams, you will take responsibility for assisting in the delivery of a major project, the Next Delivery Vehicle (NDV), by assisting experienced project managers on delivering the programme of work which has been divided into ‘products’. You will be involved at the initial strategic planning phase all the way through to appraisal and design. You will work as part of the Integrated Delivery Team (IDT) to assist in delivery of the NDV project working closely with colleagues in 4 Area teams and national experts. You will be line managed by a Project Team Manager but will work closely with and be supported by the Project Executive and Senior Project Manager.
You will be based within the Major Projects and Programme Delivery (MPPD) directorate in the Programme & Contract Management (PCM) London team. Specifically to assist with delivery of the major project; Next Delivery Vehicle. The NDV project team is developing business cases for delivery of the next phase of delivery on the Thames Estuary; we are developing a 15-year programme, designing the operating model and governance, and we are making the commercial arrangements.
• Numeracy and report writing skills, analytical skills to solve problems, taking responsibility and making decisions

• Confident in communicating with a range of stakeholders, both internal and external
• Project Management including; assisting project set-up and planning, scope production, kick-off meetings, budget control, cost forecasting, governance, risk management, production of whole life programmes, monitoring and acceptance of contract programmes, reviews of deliverables and gateways
• Business Case Development; using the 5-case business model, financial approval process
• Feasibility Assessments
• Environmental Assessments
• Stakeholder Engagement; communications plans, public meetings, stakeholder negotiations, landowner agreements, legal consents and approvals
• Health, Safety and Wellbeing; application of CDM procedures and ensuring safety management systems/processes are in place
• Contract Management; Procurement and contract strategy, contract & scope production, contract award and administration
• Sustainability
The key things we’re looking for are transferable skills, capabilities and enthusiasm; so do not be put off applying if you don’t have a degree or experience in this sector, or you don’t have all of the above skills and experience. Although excellent communication skills are a must as you’ll be working with a diverse range of people.
As an entry-level grade, we welcome all backgrounds, preferably interested in engineering, geography or science, with a desire to work towards chartered membership of a professional body.
There is an expectation to be present at 2MS twice a week.
