The Environment Agency (EA) are fully committed to having an inclusive workforce to reflect the communities we serve. We don’t just talk about diversity; we seek it, embrace it, and live it, for the benefit of our staff, our communities, and our environment.

With rising water demand, and a changing climate, pressures on water continue to increase. We need our EA assets to reliably monitor and move water so that we can effectively manage the environment and regulate those who take from, and discharge into our resources whilst also reducing carbon footprints to zero by 2050.

Maintaining our present approach to resiliently managing Water Land and Biodiversity (WLB) water management assets is not sufficient. We need our WLB assets to be cost and carbon effective whilst maintaining their performance and resilience.

We need an experienced creative thinker and motivator to work across our organisation to drive the transformative change required to meet our 2030 and 2050 targets. To do this you will need to work effectively at both local and national levels, delivering timely, and costed, collaborative action.

As the WLB Assets’ Net Zero Carbon Management Senior Advisor you will be able to show others, who are less familiar with carbon reduction, evidence-based cost-effective measures that will lower our organisation’s carbon footprint.

We use smart tools to stay connected and reduce travel, but some travel and overnight stays may be required.

Everyone that joins us is required to undertake training and participate in incident response duties when the need to respond arises. Having an incident role is an essential part of working for the Environment Agency and an active way to support communities and prevent harm to the environment. Further information on incident response can be found within your candidate pack.
