We are looking for an enthusiastic individual to lead, supervise and deliver asset operation and maintenance activities as well as provide an appropriate emergency response. This hands on role involves leading a small team, outside in all weathers as directed by your Team leader.
This includes:-
Ensuring assets are able to operate as required and in line with training and procedures
Allocating, monitoring and carrying out work on site, using a variety of tools and equipment such as cutting grass on flood banks and clearing debris from trash screens. Providing expertise on best practice methodology and operation of equipment within own competency
Operating and maintaining more complex assets, such as pumping stations.
Coaching and mentoring Team Members and colleagues to increase skills, knowledge and experience
Assisting in the planning of maintenance programmes
Providing support to produce planned risk management documentation, producing dynamic risk management and unplanned risk management documentation for low risk incident response activities.
Leading and providing on site response to incidents inside and outside of normal working hours by participating, training and exercising in an incident standby role. Deploying sandbags, temporary barriers, mobile pumps and pollution equipment.
Our field teams protect people and the environment by maintaining and operating our flood and coastal risk management assets and responding to incidents.
Field teams predominately work outside, in or near water. With a range of technical skills they deliver watercourse maintenance, along with asset maintenance and construction projects using a variety of equipment and plant including floating plant, boats and other specialist equipment.
They support the prevention or mitigation of incidents day and night.
You should demonstrate a positive, adaptable approach and a 'can do' attitude as a team player.
Experience in maintenance tasks including the use of equipment, tools and plant is desirable (full training will be provided)
You should have an understanding of site health and safety requirements (relevant qualifications would be ideal)
Requires a good level of literacy and numeracy skills
Be able to use personal effectiveness to carry out tasks and answer queries effectively.
Competent in the use of IT devices, such as an iPad, and willing to learn our in-house systems.
Willing to undertake specialist/or further training when necessary.
People management skills are beneficial
