This post will play a pivotal role in helping to deliver our ambitious flood risk management capital programme in the Hertfordshire and North London Area. To progress our proposed flood alleviation schemes, we need to gain additional funding from external sources. Each scheme is different and has different challenges, partners and beneficiaries.

You would work with project managers and senior users to investigate potential funding sources and create a funding strategy for each project. You would be responsible for setting up meetings with potential contributors and advising the project team on the best approach.

Delivering the capital programme is our top priority and you may be asked to take on additional roles, such as supporting Risk Management Authorities but the initial focus will be on Environment Agency schemes.
The post will sit in the Partnerships and Strategic Overview (London West) team but will support projects across the whole Hertfordshire and North London Area. The Flood and Coastal Risk Management department work closely with other internal departments and external Risk Management Authorities. Our department is responsible for all aspects of flood risk management on main rivers and there will be opportunities to be trained and involved in our response to incidents.
You will need to be highly organised and proactive as involvement in multiple projects will result in a varied and challenging workload. Good communication, engagement and influencing skills are essential as contacting beneficiaries and partners about funding needs to be approached correctly. Knowledge of the Flood and Water Management Act and flood risk management funding mechanisms would be beneficial. This role would suit someone from a marketing, commercial or communications background as well as someone with technical experience of working in flood risk management.
